Team Reaper Win GPPL Event 3

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Sunday morning saw the top four pro teams competing to take the lead in the points standing in the GPPL 2011 series.  Games kicked off in icy cold weather.  In the first match, Reaper teamed up against Dynamix, winning 3 – 2.  The second match for the day was against Xplicit.  Reaper lost the first point but came back strong beating them 3 – 1.  The team was looking good and their new Reaper NT11′s were running smoothly after a few hiccups in the morning with paint being very brittle.  The team then settled on firing RPS Stinger for the rest of the day.

Reaper then took on Awsim, beating them 2 – 1, which secured another match against them in the semi finals.  This match up saw Reaper beating Awsim yet again, placing Reaper in the finals against Dynamix.

The Reaper machine was on a winning streak and could not be beaten, ‘00’ Steve was back in action and Bryan and Paul were destroying players on both the snake and Doritos side.

The final match kicked off late on Sunday afternoon with Reaper taking the first two points against Dynamix. Reaper lost players off the break in the third point, giving Dynamix the point and a chance to get back in the game.  With the scoreboard sitting at 2 – 1 and 1 minute 30 remaining, the pressure was on!  Reaper locked it down, ran the clock and secured the win!

Thanks go to Dye for all the support.  Our NT11′s ran perfectly throughout the day with no problems!

Grammaton Clerics review the 4th leg of MPOC 2011

Monday, June 27th, 2011

For the 4th Leg of MPOC 2011 (11th & 12th June 2011) the organizers brought it back to where it all started. Xtion Paintball in Bukit Jalil has seen many epic battles for the past 10 years. The toughest it has ever seen was WCA2009 which after that the management decided the old lady needed a rest from big events. With upgraded facilities and primed fields Xtion Cup was a cause for celebration. The grass was green, the grandstands were shiny and the weather was just perfect for paintball.

Grammaton knew that to clinch gold this leg would mean the overall championship with one round to spare. Preparations were not as we would have liked but one thing we learned was to adapt. It was no secret that all teams in Division 3 wanted to beat us. We knew it won’t be easy to defend the gold streak and it was certainly tough as we found out on tournament day.

Again prelims were split on Saturday and Sunday. Good for everyone as that would mean ample rest and more paintball for everyone (watching or playing didn’t really matter). D1 saw tough competition with Ronin and Nemesis Legion battling in the finals. Ronin did badly in the previous leg so we guessed they were determined to not screw up their chances. For us it was paintball as usual, trying to complete prelims in the best position possible.

Game plan aside, we basically played one game with very minor alterations as we went. There were tough games in prelims with our traditional 1st game screw-up paved our way building better momentum. We top D3 prelims with a surprisingly high ED.

Teams like Underwarranty, Lost Boys, KSK Flash and CMX Hamoon tried very hard to stop us. They almost did… it was not comfortable wins during the Q8 and the Semis. In the Finals we battled CMX Hamoon who locked our zones very well but our forwards fought to find the holes and plugged them, our back line mopped up the rest. CMX Hamoon gave a very sportsmanlike gesture by handing the flag to us to call the gold home and also MPOC 2011 D3 Overall Champions!!!

CEBP took place in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil with beautiful weather and fields.

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

CEBP (Brazilian State Circuit of Paintball). The location was the Rapinas field in the city of Ribeirão Preto, close to São Paulo. Ribeirão Preto is a beautiful and sunny city with a warm climate, that reminds me of the weather in Las Vegas, chilly mornings and evenings and hot afternoons. The city also has an excellent infrastructure to receive a paintball tournament. Green grass, compressed air in the pits and a professional referee team created the perfect atmosphere for a great paintball weekend.

The tournament format was X-Ball Race to 4, which means a great opportunity for the Brazilian teams to practice for the World Cup. There was 2 teams playing in CEBP that are going to play in Chicago.

Dye sponsored teams put in great effort and were awarded several podium finishes.

Open Division
1 place Jungle Kidz
2 place Jungle Boyz
4 place Rapinas

Amateur Division
1 place Sabotagem
2 place Delta & Ranger
4 place Rapinas Kids
