Grammaton Clerics still top of D2 after 4th Leg MPOC 2012

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Coming out fresh from the Malaysian Open and with ample study of the layout, MPOC Leg 4 was set to be a great outing. Again held at Xtion Paintball Park in Bukit Jalil where the facility is the traditional grounds for the league.

We came into this event leading the division and if we become champions it would seal the title for us with one leg remaining. That was the goal but still a big part of it was to have fun.

During the prelims We dropped only 4 points in the 6 games we played in the race to 3 format. This made us qualify for Sunday in a revised Round Robin Semi-Final, on Sunday we faced teams Demonz Hitt, Simpsons and Votolocos.

The match with Demonz Hitt was indeed tough with the layout in reality being very technical. In fact many teams across divisions played to full game time with draws peppered across the score board. With that we drew with Demonz Hitt, won against Simpsons and Votolocos. Top 2 of the round robin secured their place in the finals while the bottom 2 matched-up for 3rd and 4th finals.

Thus we meet again with Votolocos in the finals. However this time we were not so lucky as we dragged the game to a draw in regulation time that forced the deciding point to be played in overtime. Votolocos took the point and we had to settle for 2nd place. Beaten this round but we could still keep our heads up. 2nd place still maintains us as divisional leaders of the D2 division. That is still a good cause for celebration, albeit a bit subdued. The final leg in September would not be any easier, but a win then would be even sweeter. Everyone can be rest assured that there is no way the Clerics are handing the championship on a silver platter with a ribbon on top to any team. They want it? They have to work for it… and work very very hard they must.

The Singapore Paintball Series 2012 Leg 1

Friday, July 20th, 2012

14 July 2012 (Singapore) – The Singapore Paintball Series 2012 Leg 1 kicked off at one of the oldest soccer fields in Singapore, Farrer Park on 14 & 15 July 2012. The SPS was first established in 2007 with aims of promoting and developing paintball sport in Singapore. Its secondary aim is to forge a strong relationship amongst the local paintball community and governing authorities so that paintball as a sport can gain recognition as a mainstream sport in the country. As one of the most established paintball tournaments in the Asia region, the SPS now has an extensive database of more than 500 registered players and referees with the numbers growing after every SPS event. “Paintball in Singapore has been progressing in recent years however restricted by the access of personal equipment such as paintball markers (guns). The SPS is currently working with related stakeholders to allow the sport to gain recognition in Singapore and hopefully to remove all barriers surrounding these restrictions.”, said Ben Seow, 34, co-founder of the SPS.

Since 2007, Dye Asia which has been an ardent supporter of the SPS has provided their support and sponsorship to the series in many ways possible. For this leg of the SPS, the SPS Referees are proud to don the Dye Referee Jerseys while performing their job in the field maintaining fair play and safety for the participants. The SPS Referees body was established in 2009 to support the growth of paintball refereeing in Singapore. SPS Referees certification courses are conducted twice a year so as to induct more referees into the industry. The SPS Referees are also trained under the guidance of AsiaRef Manager, Mr. Junaidi Kalil who oversees the development of paintball refereeing in Asia.

“The Dye Referee Jerseys are just what we need to do the job in the field, the armour plates provides the necessary protection for referees to perform their job in the field without the worry of getting hit on vital or sensitive areas such the lower back, armpit, etc”, mentioned Ref Idi who manages the SPS Referees.

Singapore Paintball Series 2012 Leg 2 will be held on 6 & 7 October 2012 at the Marina Promotory which is a distance walk away from the Marina Bay Sands casino located in the city center of Singapore.
