Three tournaments, one event, $30,000 cash pay out.  MPOC Pals was a pretty sweet deal, with Division 1 through Division 4 all with the chance to win stacks of cold hard cash.

For me, the trip started as many do… waking up early to make it to the airport then sort everything out at the check-in counter. By the time I arrived at the hotel to meet with everyone from STK it was about 9pm. I was tired and wanted nothing more than to go to sleep.  We didn’t play until the afternoon the following day which I was stoked to hear about.

Prelims were not easy, but it made the team fight and work together to make the cut.  We ended up 3-1-1 and would play Datis in the Quarterfinals. Datis was the only loss we had in the prelims, and they beat us 4-0. Its was a real eye-opener for us because before that game we had not been shut down so much. Most of the points were over in 30 seconds, a breakout then game over we lose the point.  This time around we wanted some revenge. It was a really close match and STK ended up with the win and moving on to play Nemesis.

Nemesis is another team we played in the finals and ended in a tie game. All of the guys on Nemesis are great players whom I have known for years… but I wanted nothing more than to smash them in to the ground and move onto the finals.  That is exactly what happened and we ended up winning 4-0 to advance to the finals.

Now it was just time to wait and watch who we would play in the finals, either Xtioneer or Infernal. I was really hoping it was going to be Infernal because they are another Dye team and also deep down I wanted a rematch from the final we played against them at World Cup Asia that ended up with them winning.  Xtioneer would prove to be too much for Infernal on this day, however.  Infernal vs. STK for the final match of the event.

I have been playing with STK for the last three PALs events and we have come close to winning but have never been able to get there. We’ve been close, but close doesn’t mean anything except that you played good but you’re still a loser.  Looking into the eyes of everyone on the team, I knew that my boys were ready and wanted the win. No one looked scared or unsure if they could win this thing. Our confidence was high, and going into the finals off a 4-0 victory was gave us some momentum.

The finals started out in a close first point which STK won, but after that it was back and forth. It was a super close game, with a tie score of 3-3 with just 22 seconds of game time left. Being a team full of fighters intead of playing the 22 seconds smart to go into overtime, we wanted to win it and seal the teams fate and first major win. We had a quick little game plan talk and we went for the win. We went out and scored a point in the last 22 second winning the match 4-3 and the event!!

I will be getting myself ready for the next event, and I know that every person on STK will be also. That win has come and gone, but in the end it’s all about how good you are on that one given day in paintball… the past is just the past.

I would like to thank Dye for giving me the chance to do what I do, STK for being the team they are, Brad and Chirstine for everything who are just as if not more important than any player on the team, Michelle, WASP Paintball for everything they do for the team, also all of the pit crew who helped. A big thank you to Chris who helped in the pits and also did a great job picking up our pods from the field and also Jas for being there to help and also put up with TDD (Dan Woods).
