Team DRX Gets 2nd at MY-NPL Event #3

Wednesday, July 17th, 2013

Team DRX came in 2nd last weekend in the 3rd event of 2013 MY-NPL. Dropping only 2 points in the preliminary, the team emerged on top of the table to take on Team Rockstar in the semi-final.

Surviving an early scare with 2 points down in a race to 4 format, Team DRX hung on with everything they have to come out winning the game with a 3-2 scoreline. Onward to the finals….

As expected, Team DRX face off against Team Recda Waxers in a much anticipated final game of Division 1…In the end, as the dust settles, we lost to a better organised team but that’s all part and parcel of the game we love.

A big thank you to Dye and our sponsors to make this win possible and we look forward to the finale in Malacca (Oct 19-20)!

Windsor Lockdown – 1st Place in Canada’s CXBL League

CXBL Event #1 – 2K13 Border Battle June 29-30, 2013

photos by: Sheldon Carless

The CXBL is keeping traditional X-Ball alive up in Canada, and the competition is no joke, with teams like Heat and VICIOUS all competing at 15bps.

Our Dye Sponsored team, Windsor Lockdown, put together one hell of a roster for this event, including Marcello Margott, Jason Edwards, Alex Goldman, Chad Busier, and Keith Brown, on top of a group of Canadian All-Stars who lived up to their potential at event #1, The Border Battle.

Here’s what Trevor van Dorsser of Lockdown had to say:

“Our Lockdown Guys without (Marcello, Mouse, Jason Edwards and Keith Brown) beat Heat at event #1.  The Pro’s flights were all screwed up and did not arrive until after the Match.  Lockdown surprised everyone by winning against Heat with only 6 guys!

Then the pro’s arrived, and we went 3-0 for the weekend and are in first place in the league. The DYE CG paint was the talk of the event and absolutely helped us take it to some of the best players in the world at the CXBL.”

HULK Fight for Ukraine at 2013 Millennium Series – Campaign Cup

Report from our Ukranian Team – HULK – Who represented both their team and their country playing as Ukraine at the Nations cup at the Millennium Series Campaign Cup

by: HULK

“This weekend in Basildon near London took place the third stage of the European Championship Millennium.

In the championship we have traditionally taken the Nations Cup, which was presented by the country of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s team as the previous few years based on the players of team “Hulk.” Firstly, because it is the only Ukrainian team that performs at the Millennium, in the second – the players of this team together train and play in tournaments that promotes good interaction on the field and in the third – as the experience of the last four years, Ukraine has no other paintball team that would be better than the “Hulk” has performed at international tournaments (three sets of awards from World Cups past three years – a great proof).

As for the performance of the team, there are no unexpected surprises or did not happen, and the resultant performance predicted by us a year ago, in a similar report on the tournament.

The format of this season was formed four groups, which led teams of big paintball Quartet (Russia, France, Britain and Germany). All other countries, based on the rankings, took their places in groups and screening question was only about who will be the second. To the credit of our team, we did not give any chance to any Italians or Swiss in this fight, big beat and the first (4-0) and the second (4:1). With the French suddenly struck up the intrigue, after our team, successfully shooting breakout was able to win 2 out of 3 starting points. But the French, with the support of a large crowd and great performers of Pro Division, did not want to concede. The logical final score 4-2 in favor of the French.

Quarter-finals continued to set all fall into place, and the country – not “residents” lost battalion defense with an equally big score 4-1. Only Ukrainian team unfortunate mistake in the game 2 in 1 is not allowed to take at least one point. Since losing 4-0 to England we were eighth in Europe. It is noteworthy that in any game of the British did not remain in full force with extensibility, and in the last game and all three of us were! Indicating a good level of shooting of our players, but at the same time insufficient to make good decisions in the second movements.

As we have noted, Ukraine will not get into the top four as long as our team will not be playing in the top European division! There are promising players have the opportunity to train in a comfortable Reball center, but the level of competition is too low, that would fight on equal terms with the strongest European Quartet!

A similar problem was faced our team and in the club championship SPL. Very hard to play against teams from the top championships. When the season in full swing and these teams, experiencing fierce competition in their countries, while “on the move” may cause damage at any stage of the tournament.

Take, for example, a Frenchman who demonstrates probably the best dynamics of paintball in Europe. In fact, every third team in the top three divisions closed Millennium – the representative of France! With the current format of four teams in the group, each quadruple, on average, more than one representative of France! As a result – the game commands such as “Tontons”, which for sure will fall in the top ten of the world rankings this season!

Surely it is clear to all that the “Hulk” is lost on the French team in play offs :)

If in order, then, as in the previous steps we have not had a single game track.

Although all the qualifying games ended in victory, these outstanding fights and wins with the same final result of 3-2. It should be noted very high and well-balanced selection of participants SPL this season, as evidenced by the constant rotation of leaders and ranking in the top ten. On the way out of the group we beat “Dagnir Dae”, “Ugly Ducklings “and “ML Kings” Faced with the “Boost Air Rennes” in 1 / 8. Perhaps because of the injury of our snake forward, we could not find your optimal game for the first time this season, the biggest loser 4:1.

Despite the absence of even a theoretical chance of a prize in the division this season, an experience that gets the team is invaluable in the process of building a competitive team. Already all three players of Hulk youth team take part in team games, both on the domestic tournaments, as well as abroad, laying the foundation for future victories!

Thanks to everyone who supports us – the captain Iaroslav, coach Alexander Pristupov the best pit area in the world Oksana; companies «DYE» and «Autoradio”. And a separate kowtow to Vasiliy Panteleev, team “Cosmos” and the other Slavic brothers for their help on the fileds and in the pit area :)

See you soon on the fields!”

An Almost Perfect Weekend – Event Report by Mad Bunnies from MY-NPL Event 3

Team Mad Bunnies Event Report

My-NPL 2013 Event 3

An Almost Perfect Weekend”

“The team entered the event full of confidence after looking good in training that started 3 weeks before the event. A few game plans were formulated with involved some of the most ambitious counter moves not tried before over the last 2 events. The mood was good and the feeling was positive, suffice to say Team Mad Bunnies was in good shape to bring home the gold.

The team drew what many observers considered to be the ‘Group of Death’ featuring My-NPL stalwarts Team CMX Hamoon & Team Yin Yang, Event 1 finalists Team Outlaws Singapore and Event 2 finalists Team Mad Storm.

The team played 5 preliminary games and the results are as follows:

PRELIMINARY GAMES (BRACKET D)

TEAM NAME SETS WON SETS LOST ACCUMULATED POINTS ACCMUMULATED WIN/LOSS

Yin Yang 2 0 2 +2

El Mohad 2 0 4 +4

Mad Storm 2 0 6 +6

Tora Tora 2 0 8 +8

CMX Hamoon 2 0 10 +10

Finishing as champions of Bracket D booked us a spot in the automatic Quarter Finals slot where we were pitted against Team Outlaws from Singapore, a team we met in the Event 1 finals & event 2 QF. Winning this round will give us an opportunity to eliminate our nearest competitor in the D3 overall ranking, Team Bunga Tanjung

The elimination round results are as follows:

QUARTER FINALS

TEAM NAME SETS WON SETS LOST ACCUMULATED POINTS ACCMUMULATED WIN/LOSS

Outlaws 2 0 2 +2

SEMI FINALS

TEAM NAME SETS WON SETS LOST ACCUMULATED POINTS ACCMUMULATED WIN/LOSS

Bunga Tanjung 2 0 2 +2

With a perfect record from Saturday, the team was clear favourites to win the finals when it was announced that we will be meeting Team One-Eye Bandits, a team that has struggled to make it past the elimination rounds in previous events. But like any finals competition, underestimating the opponents will bring about dire effects as we have learned. After having taken the 1st set, the team lost focus and due to some coaching error, lost the 2nd set by a razor thin margin. With 59 seconds of regulation game time left, the plan was to hold the game and start over again in Overtime. It was the longest 59 seconds of our lives as Team One-Eye Bandits made their intentions clear to finish the game off in regulation time by moving up the flanks in lightning speed. Only by consistent sharp zoning and cross-field shooting that we managed to hold the marauding forward players of the opponents.

The Overtime was a different proposition altogether. With renewed determination and hunger (and greed) to succeed, we were able to take advantage of precise off-the-break laning when we took one of the opponent’s front players early on and pinning the rest of them in their back bunkers. Our front players were able to go to town and finishing up what was left of the opposition.

FINALS

TEAM NAME SET WON SET LOST OVERTIME WIN/LOSS

One-Eye Bandit 1 1 W +1

Overall, it was a great weekend where we saw great improvements in so many different aspects of the team game. The results speak for itself, finishing top of an incredibly challenging bracket speaks volumes of the improvements the team has achieved since moving up from D4 earlier this year.

Coming into this event the team suffered near catastrophic equipment failure and we were lucky the DYE tech was on hand to keep our gear in tip-top and competitive condition. A special shout-out is due to Mr. Weili Wu for such a great job that he did with the markers. Our appreciation also goes to DYE for making such cool looking gear. We were proud to don the C13 jerseys & pants for the first time this leg and they were marvelous all weekend!!

We’ve opened up a 20-something point lead in the overall ranking race and we look forward to playing again in Malacca in October. With fast greens and great venue, it promises to be a finale to be remembered. We hope that we will stand victorious at the end of it. Catch us in Malacca, the historic city in October.”

From all of us in Mad Bunnies
