Winds were blowing very heavy which at times also blew away the bunkers, but it did not stop the tournament. This tournament had 13 teams take part which is the most teams a JPA leg has ever had. Hopefully this would be the start of the growth of paintball in Japan and get more teams in the future.

The Japan Cup also had a special guest who traveled from Malaysia playing for Team Delta Rovers, Mr. Wong Wei in which took part in this event with Team KU.

Dynamix started the year a bit rocky with no marker sponsorship at the first GPPL (Gauteng Professional Paintball League) event. We ended the first event in 3rd place. Dye was present at the event, they saw potential in Dynamix and decided to bring us on board as one of their teams.

Now with Dye and Blades & Triggers behind Dynamix, the team went from strength to strength. Dynamix won the 2nd GPPL event with our new Dye NT11′s. The 3rd GPPL event we battled our way to 2nd place and won the 4th GPPL event.

In the final GPPL event and African Cup held at our home field – Blades & Triggers – we needed to win the event to clench the series and the African Cup. In the finals we came up against our fellow Dye team – Reapers. Beating them 4-1, Dynamix won the African cup and The GPPL Series.

After leaving World Cup with a lot of mixed feelings I was on a plane back to Taiwan for a day in the office before a trip to the land down under.  World Cup was a great event and I am glad I was a part of it.  Arriving in Australia is always questionable but after a few trips already under my belt I did not take my own loader, barrels, air tank or marker.  The laws on bringing in those items require you to have permits and it can take a few weeks to get.  If only i had known that the airport was a mess because of strikes I could of walked into the country with all my own gear.

 

I picked up my rental car and headed from the Melbourne Airport to Semoz Paintball in Echuca-Moama to meet up with Peter Spencer who is the field owner and Mike Paxson who arrived the day before me. As I arrived Mike was doing a Clinic for a few players.  Pete had just finished updating his tournament fields with a full size PSP field on astroturf, brand spanking new Dye Field, Scoreboard and netting. The field looked mint and I was excited to play the event.  As I was checking out the new field and watching Mike do the clinic I headed over to do a tech class for a few people.

After I was done with the Tech class Todd and Davey had shown up and we hung around with Pete over a few Bundies (Australian pre mixed Rum & Cola which are fantastic). The night was good and relaxing as Pete and his wife Kylie had a great roast dinner for us all with some of his Moms homemade sauce.  He was making sure we were all ready for the 2 days ahead.

 

The event started off bright and early at 8am….  Well it was supposed to but (I will included myself in this) by the time everyone was ready to go it was about 10am.  It gave us all time to make sure that the field rental guns Pete was letting us all use were good to go. Might I add that he runs DMs and NT markers with Rotors as an upgraded field rental package so we had good working guns and fresh Dye CG Paint, everything was good to go.

I have had the chance to test the Dye paint here in Taiwan on multiple occasions and this was the first time i would shoot the paint in another country.  I was excited for everyone else there to see what I have been talking about for the past weeks.  Not a single person was disappointed in the quality of the paint!! It was shooting ball on ball accurate and was breaking on everything but inside of the markers.

The time had come for games to begin and team USA Allstars (which we later changed to Team Bundy) was out to have fun and play against the local Australian teams.  The team was made up of Mike Paxson, myself, Davey Williamson, Todd martinez and Matt Baulch.  Matt is a local Australian player who was our fifth player and he held up his share during the event.  There were a total of 9 prelim race to 2 matches with teams playing everyone from both divisions.  So the new teams had their chance to play the experienced teams and vice versa.  I really am a fan of this type of play in small local events because of the opportunity it gives to the newer teams.  Games went on all day Saturday leaving each team 2 prelim games to play on Sunday.  This was also something I thought was a good idea just by the simple fact that all of the teams will be there both days.  Instead of having a team who does not advance into the next round of play and misses the final day of the event.

 

As the games moved onto the finals they were played in a round robin format so each team would play each other.  The only difference between the prelim and the finals is that all of the final games were played as a Race to 3.  The finals would allow all of the lower division teams to play all of their games so that when the high division teams were playing they had a chance to watch instead of getting ready for their next game.  I have a strong feeling that the lower division teams appreciated this as they were able to get a better grasp on playing as a team and trying different things on the field.

After the games finished there was a BBQ for everyone to hang out, have a few drinks and tell war stories from the weekend.  All of the players had a smile on their faces or were laughing from something that happened over the weekend.

 

There was the awards ceremony but before that began prizes were given out for the MVP in both divisions and some product was thrown out to the crowd courtesy of Pro Paintball Shop Australia.

 

I had a great time over the weekend and owed a big thanks to the people who helped make it happen.  Peter Spencer for having the event at his paintball park,  Bones and the rest of the APA and Dye Paintball for not only supporting the event but also making it possible for me to be there.

It was a very fun and exciting tournament as usual and we never regret coming each and every year.

The facilities were pretty impressive, the field was great, it had a similar layout to the WCA so that we can get used to it when we play there next month. The pit was clean and spacious and we were able to move around in it with no problem. Most important was the hotel which was a 30 second walk from the event venue which was very convenient for us.

We want to thank our Victory to our sponsor DYE precision, without their great gear the win would have been more difficult. The NEW CG paint was very impressive, spot on, and always broke on target

We have got to give a hand to Team ST, who pushed us real hard, and our victory did not come easy. I would consider them as one of the best teams in Taiwan.

Special thanks to the marshals of the event whose decisions were spot on.

The day stared with a freak storm. It rained and hailed heavily for about 4 hours. After that the sun came out to say hi and we went back to get our bronzing on and play some paintball. With WCA looming over us, the motivation to get a win in before the big event of the year for us was important. The team has had issues this year getting motivated to step up our game and it shows in the previous event results. Our heads were in the game and all we wanted to do was smash people and put a hurting on each team that lined up against us on the field. We made it through the prelims dropping 2 games but that did not have a negative effect on team. We made it to the finals and we knew this was our event to win. We had to play a tough Perth City Trauma team so it was truly a battle of the best teams in Perth playing each other in the finals. We came out firing and beat them off the field in two straight games. We proved to ourselves that we are not only ready for WCA but we are going into the event with a lot of confidence. We also learned a few of the things that we need to work on, so no mistakes are made when it will count the most. We would like to thank the great owners and staff at WASP paintball park for everything they have done for us and also Dye Precision.

On Friday, 16th September, Georgie Hunter and Chris Birch from team Reaper, departed for Namibia to do a paintball clinic. Namibia is in Southern Africa and has a growing paintball scene of young, passionate players. Without an organized tournament series in Namibia, the local teams have resorted to traveling to neighboring South Africa to play the GPPL series and learn from more experienced teams. Those players who can’t afford to travel unfortunately lose out of this experience so team Reaper decided to partner with Action Paintball in Namibia and take their paintball clinic to the players. Chris Birch gave us a report from the weekend.

 

We arrived in Namibia and Werner Wormsbaecher, the owner of Action Paintball who coordinated the whole trip, greeted us and Friday night we had an amazing dinner with some of the players who would be attending the clinic.

 

Saturday, 17th September we got to the field bright and early and helped out with setting up the field and equipment for a great day of paintball as the players started arriving, all very eager to begin. Once all the players arrived we started the Reaper clinic as scheduled, Georgie lead everyone through some fitness and stretching for paintball. It was a beautiful day for paintball but the African heat meant that we needed a lot of water breaks and made sure the players stayed well hydrated throughout the day. We kept to our schedule for the clinic from warm up and one on one’s to intense drills. We ended the day with a muscle warm down for all the players who trained hard in the heat! Everyone seemed to have a great time and learnt a lot from the training.Sunday, 18th September we had a one on one tournament planned. It was another beautiful sunny day in Namibia, we gathered the players and organized the tournament. The fun one on one games gave players a chance to practice the guns skills they had learned the day before and gave us a chance to watch the players and give them individual coaching after each point. Werner Wormsbaecher ended up taking first place in the finals against Edward Jordan. As the day came to an end we got some great feedback from the weekend of paintball and everyone really enjoyed the experience of the Reaper clinic. Looking forward to another trip to Namibia soon!

They have control of 5 mission critical hard drives. Joint coalition forces have assembled 3 Special Forces units. The Australian SASR, US Navy Seal Team Six, and the British Special Boat Service (SBS).

The day started off well, and late as every paintball event does. In total we had 96 players from all over Australia come out for the event, even Domenic Annable from Townsville made it down! The Somalian team consisted of the tournament Team, X-Fighters, Ex Swat Players, and many more, they had around 40 players with one mission, hold off the Attacking forces for 2 games, and protect the 5 Hard Drives. With great leadership from Edda Henry, Souse Khoury, and John Caruana, they managed to do just that.

The SBS team was made up mostly of Fireball Paintball players (the Cult) and Action Paintball Supervisors. The had the hard task of Assaulting the city of Mogadishu from the bottom of the hill. They didn’t fair to well in the first game, but the second they managed to secure hard drives for an extra 30 points.

The SASR team was made up of mostly IYAYOAS members, with members of the Australian Defense Force as well. They had game plans, radios and the most difficult start point. The start point was deep in the bush, far away from the Mogadishu City, so it was very impressive the amount of kills and ground they took.
Here is how the day Panned Out:

UK SBS total Points 255 – 2 Hard Drives Captured, 4 Assassinations, 
Somalia 281 – Over 200 Kills, and multiple Leader Assassinations
Seals 217 -  1 Assassination 
SASR 209 – 2 Hard Drives Captured

The Somalian team ended up on top by simply shooting a lot of people! The defense held strong.
