FOURTH ANNUAL CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN’S PAINTBALL BIG GAME
MN Pro Paintball raises money for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota

Lakeville, MN – MN Pro Paintball hosts the Fourth Annual Challenge for Children’s Big Game on Sunday, May 20th 2012. This fun paintball event raises money for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Over 400 people from the Twin Cities area participate in this scenario-based game on over 200 acres of paintball terrain with a castle and urban settings.

These players, in addition to donations from local businesses, raised over $50,000 for the cardiovascular department of Children’s over the past three years. ”We are grateful for the community support that has made Challenge for Children’s one of the largest privately run fundraising events for Children’s. We would not be able to provide the high quality care to all in need without fundraising help from groups like MN Pro Paintball,” said Briana Oakes, Benefit Events Coordinator at Children’s Foundation. The money raised from Challenge for Children’s will help patients and their families through the tough road of a cardiac diagnosis. This year the event is expected to raise $25,000.

Challenge for Children’s is a scenario-based game suitable for all levels of paintball players from first-timers to experienced veterans. Matt Ames, CEO of MN Pro Paintball and founder of Challenge for Children’s says, “not only does this event raise money for Children’s, but we also have a lot of fun. Paintball is a great sport because anyone can play regardless of experience or skill level.” Matt has been a patient at Children’s for 28 years. Other patients from Children’s also play at the event.

The 2012 Challenge for Children’s Big Game takes place at MN Pro Paintball’s park in Lakeville, MN on Sunday, May 20th from 9 AM – 5 PM. Pre-registration is available for $25 until Monday, May 14th and registration the day of the event is $40. Registration includes admission to the game and unlimited air fills. Rental packages are available for $10 and field paint will be sold onsite. For more information and to pre-register visit www.challengeforchildrens.com.

About MN Pro Paintball: MN Pro Paintball is the closest paintball park to the Twin Cities.
The Ironmen started practicing a few weeks ahead of Phoenix event. Our first practice was against a divisional team from San Jose called Royalty, which is led by former coach of the Ironmen Shane Pestana. They are a great team to practice as they have tons of young talent and will always attack.

We are starting to build chemistry between the new and old guys on the Ironmen and are working well together both on and off the field, creating a cohesive team. That’s the key to winning tournaments. If you have a solid team then you will be a very consistent, and become a dominant team.

The following weekend we had the opportunity to practice against Tampa Bay Damage for a solid 3 days of practice. Tampa Bay Damage is a great team to practice against, not only did they win several tournaments last year, but they have a team full of great players. We did pretty well against Tampa Bay Damage and I would say that we either split points all weekend or they beat us by a small margin.

Right after practice we started our 5 hour trek to Phoenix. Some of the Ironmen and myself went early to help set up the Paintball Access and Dye Paintball Truck.

Our first match in the PSP Galveston make-up games we drew Seattle Thunder and beat them to move onto the semi finals. Ironically we played Tampa Bay Damage to move on to play for 1st and 2nd. Unfortunately they prevailed and we were knocked out of the tournament with a 4th place finish

The PSP Phoenix Open came in the blink of an eye and we were off to a great start. The Ironmen have a history of not winning the first game and not only did we win the 1st game but we went 4-0 in the prelims to get the number 1 seed moving onto Sunday. Thankfully with the number 1 seat we had a bye which automatically put us into the top 4.

Our first match was against the Russian Legion. We felt that it was a great draw for us and we could definitely beat them. We had a great start and won the first point. Throughout the match the Ironmen received several major and minor penalties which cost us the match and we 7-5. I felt that we made many small mental errors which added up to a loss.

Now that we have a few weeks off from practice some of us are off to play tournaments with different teams all around the world. Make sure to follow my fan page to see when I am going to be at a field near you! My fan page is Justin “LJ” Schwarz. Thanks for all of the continued support and be sure to watch the LA Ironmen this year! #SHOOTKILLWIN

St.Tropez

So I jump on a painfully early flight to Marseille for my first event with Marseille Vision, I’m not sure how it will work out playing on a French team, but I’m looking forward to it. I flew out there a few days early to get some training in with my new team and also to try and learn their codes, figure out the way they work and maybe a little French too.

Day 1: We were able to train with London Nexus and TonTons at the TonTons field near Marseille. Training went great, we took a lot of points off both teams and we were able to try a lot of moves out that seemed to be working. It was very strange to train against Nexus as I still consider them as my team and I still work closely with them before events. I was happy for Vision but I was also thinking about how to help Nexus work better and try to help them as the day went on. But all in all training went great and it was fun.

Day 2: We trained again, this time with two other teams (who I forget the name of) this was another cool day training with a lot of points won by us. So going into the event the team seemed confident and strong. I already felt like a part of the team, which is sometimes tough when you are not with the team as much as you would normally like. I was definitely happy about joining Vision for the millennium events.

Day 3: Event day, and we had two matches to play.
First match was against Copenhagen PB club; this was a team I have not heard of before, but was told they play very strong and were going to give us a tough match. We dominated the points from the break and it ended in a 4-1 win to Vision.

Great start, and the team was playing strong.

2nd match was against Amsterdam Heat 2; this was a quick match for us and we walked away with a 4-0 win. The team was buzzing as we had made it thourgh to Sunday already.

Day 4: We only had one match and it was against Ronins, this was also a quick match ending 4-1 to Vision.
We had made it though to Sunday with the best point spread in the whole division, the team was on a high but for me the tourney was only just getting started. Our first match on Sunday was against Freestyle Moscow who had two of the LA Ironmen and one US Pro on their roster, so this was going to be a true test to see how good the team was playing.

Day 5: We started off Sunday with a bang and beating Freestyle Moscow 4-0! Everything was working great the new Dye CG paint was incredible. Everyone on the team was playing really well. After that match a good friend of mine told me we would win this event, and I was starting to believe this myself too. We then went on to beating empire Venice 4-0 in the semi finals. We were going into the Final against Dogs D’Amour having only dropped 2 points all weekend.

Dogs D’Amour were having a solid event too, with Chad George and Justin Cornell both playing well. It was a great match with the early points going back and forth but we pushed it up a notch and took a 4-2 win!

Winning is the greatest feeling, and I’m proud to be part of Vision to take their first Millennium event win since 2005. Our DM12s were effortlessly shooting the new DYE CG Paint ball-on-ball all weekend, without doubt that was a huge factor in our performance.

What a week and what a team. Lets hope we can take our form to the next event as it’s my goal to get Vision back to pro for the 2013 season.

Clint
