“After what seemed to be an everlasting off-season we finally set aim for the French Riviera and the first millennium-event of 2013. And this time we actually had 6 Ivy girls with us; Silje, Linn, Pia, Linda, Cecilia and Benedicte.

After a pre-start of the season in Russia one month ago which was a good test for the team, we felt pumped and ready for the season to really kick off. We are confident beacuse we have put in a lot of hours of paintball practice during the off-season. Because we live where we do we hadn’t had any opportunity to actually play on the whole field before the event, so we were pretty excited for our training session on Thursday evening.

We arrived in Nice and managed pretty quickly to pack the girls and all our bags into the car. Then we asked a very nice young man at the car rental-service to help us with the GPS, “No problem” said the young fellow, but what he forgot to mention was that he so kindly decided to save us some money and sent us out on a route that avoided the toll roads. This probably doesn’t sound too bad, but the drive which should have taken us 40 minutes ended up taking over 2 hours and we actually had to stop and get something to eat.. Just sayin..

When we finally found the little town we were staying in, and found our awesome 4 star hotel, we got so excited that we each had our own bathrobes that we immediately put them on.. Haha.. We’re not really used to fancy stuff on paintball-trips….lol.. Then we set out to find the site which was easier said than done, but Britt helped us almost all the way there, and we made it just in time for our training session. Oh, by the way, we forgot to introduce you to Britt. Our friendly GPS.

Can’t say it was a great practice for us and it didn’t boost our confidence, but we got to play on the field and figured out what didn’t work, and what might work.

Moving on to the event..

During Thursday we got our schedule and found out that we were meeting another girls team, our socalled “rivals” Fat Ladies Charms.

It was pretty awesome when we started the preliminaries against them and lost 4-0…. (Congrats boys and girls. Well played!).To sum it up: they played good, and we didn’t.

After that game we sat down and talked about the game, changed some stuff and decided to start over. We focused on the next task at hand, our next game against Marseille Icon 2. Everyone who has played the Millennium-series for a few years knows of that name, and we knew we were up against a good team. But apparently the talk we had after our first game worked and we ended up winning 3-1.

Last game in the prelims was against Kingsize Berlin and we won that game 3-0.

BUT even though we had two wins we couldn’t celebrate just yet, because 3 teams in our group had 2 wins! And we placed as number 3 in our group!

After a couple of agenizing hours our awesome coach Magued brought the good news that we were the last team to make it through to the Sunday club!!! LUCKYLOOSERS FTW!

SUNDAYCLUB,

We were really excited, not just because we made it to Sunday, but because all the Norwegian teams made it to Sunday!

Our game in the last 16 was against the Russian team Tyumen Spectrand, they gave us a good fight, but we finally won 3-2.

Just the fact that we won this game shows the change in our team, as we have had a huge problem with being able to handle the “pressure” of the Sunday earlier.

Next we met the French team Elite Ile d Oleronand lost 3-0… Guess this is where the pressure got to us! What made the loss a bit better was that Elite went on to take 1st. Congrats guys!

As for us, we ended up placing 6th out of 27 teams, and we were and still are very proud of our performance and we are happy with that result! For now. Let’s just say it’s a good start..

Looking back at the event we see a definite change in the team from previous years.. the way we think, how united we are as a team and as friends, and of how we act as a team. We’re still the same old Poison Ivy, just a new and improved version.

We set some goals together this year that we are certain we will reach if we stay on the same path that we are on now. Next up is even more practice, and not only with reballs, but also with paintball. The outdoor training is about to kick off here in Norway.

Our amazing sponsors:

DYE paintball for our awesome gear, including Dye Reflex Markers, i4 Goggle Systems, Dye ROTOR Loaders and the Dye CG paint.

RSHmedia for the best media coverage in the world of paintball, claim the world.

Our home field, Sniperpaintball in Drammen, for letting us use their awesome indoor reball center (almost) whenever we want. Last but not least Rockstar energydrink!

Without you we wouldn’t be where we are today!

A huge shout out to our coach Magued, thank you for putting up with our drama and pointing us in the right direction. Thanks to Knut for being our coach in the pit during the weekend.

Stio and Fredrik from Drammen Solid, thanks for helping us with our practices during the off-season, you guys are the best. And thanks to everyone else who helped us out during the off-season, or in the pit in France, you know who you are and we love you <3 Last but not least, thanks to all of you that belive in us and supports us. We love you to <3

Until next time…”

-xoxo P.I

Pete “Mr. U” Utschig of the Tactical Ironmen reports from his latest tactical adventure in Ecuador -

“The last event of this year for the Tactical Ironmen had the guys split between Wayne’s World Game in Florida where the Ironmen were led by Mike Paxson and Billy Wing, and the event I went too in Guayaquil Ecuador. Although I heard amazing things about the Wayne’s World Game I am really happy I made the trip to Ecuador.

The Tactical Event I played was called Navikill which in Spanish means the Christmas Kill, very fitting. The event was organized by Ecuador’s top ranked tactical team Waiakill, and the team puts on an amazing event . The game pitted three teams of 35 players each in a virtual tug of war. The field was 500 yards long with two rows of two-story cement houses full of alleys, windows and corridors.

It was a tactical paintball player’s dream come true, especially one armed with a DYE DAM. There were kills to be had around every corner. Two teams competed at a time while the third team judged. The team’s mission was to acquire a key from the other team’s safe zone and then unlock a chained up hostage located in a maze in the center of the field. Both teams had the same assignments, which meant the gunfights in the center of the field were intense.

Paint was raining from every window above and below, nowhere was safe. Games were 30 minutes long and re-generation was allowed in the first 15 , which meant the first 15 minutes were full blown slugfest and the last 15 a tactical a chess match. There was no leaving the field to reload or air up. This left me at a huge advantage with a couple of loaded first strike clips in my harness. I was eliminating players at will with my DAM while they were struggling, down to my last rounds.

During lunch, with the help of Luis from DYE Ecuador and Team Evolution, and Gazzu also from DYE Ecuador and Team Zurikatas, we organized a 2 vs. 2 Tactical DAM tournament and Sniper competition. All the players involved were blown away by the DAMs accuracy, versatility, and fire power. I hope that we are able to adopt this set up at some tactical events next year. It was some of the most fun paintball I have ever played. Make sure you check back for more POV video footage coming soon!”

Epic stories from the epic big-game, North v South UK, as told by the newest member of the Dye Tactical family William “The Prince” Clifford -

“On the weekend of May 4th and 5th, I headed over to DTE Swynnerton Military base to play in the North v South UK Big Game Festival. I have played in scenarios all over the UK, but have never made it to the UK’s largest game, I was anxious as what to expect.

Turning up at the event on Saturday afternoon when the event was in full swing was great, I have to say I was really impressed with how it was set up. All the big UK vendors you could think of were there. If you had left anything at home, you could easily pick it up.

I was introduced to all the guys from Nexus and got to meet one of my favorite players of all time: Pete ‘Mr U’ Utschig of the tactical Ironmen who had flown in from the states to be General for the Southern Army. After setting up my gear we headed down to the chronograph area and introduced a number of players to the features that the DAM had to offer, of which everyone was amazed with.

Later that afternoon we headed out into one of the more popular mini games; ‘UK versus the world’. There were easily 400 players out there on the field and running with Tactical Nexus and Mr U was an experience of a lifetime. It was great to be around a group of guys that play together on a regular basis. The communication was really good amongst us all, and we managed to push the opposing team back quickly. After playing this mini game I knew that the Sunday was going to be amazing.

It was an honour to represent DYE at such a huge event. The customer service that they offer is phenomenal; the DYE booth looked great, with all the Tactical gear on display and the techs were helping people set up their equipment until gone 8 o’clock on Saturday evening when all the other vendors had packed away.

The DYECAM really does work well on the field; I’ve found that it enables you to fit into multiple environments. It’s not like some camo that will only work well in specific environments; it fits in as an overall camo so it’s effective whatever the terrain. Running with a team of guys, who were all wearing it head to toe, really gave us that extra stealth advantage out there on the field. We not only looked the part, but we also played the part.

The Sunday was great; we managed to successfully take all of our objectives from pushing the North back to securing and holding an objective. It was only due to some unfortunate timing that we were unable to secure the compound for the final mission, as that would have won the event for the South.

Playing with a highly successful tournament team and one of the world’s most renowned scenario players, combined with the most effective camo and the deadly DAM’s really was an amazing combination. I think my personal highlight of the weekend was bunkering 10+ guys behind a building that we were trying to capture along with Shaun and Neil from London Nexus (one of the players on the receiving end was Greg Hastings), and I was lucky enough to catch it all on my camera!

I had the most fun that I’ve ever had out there on the paintball field with almost 2000 players attending, I will definitely be attending North versus South next year.

I would just like to thank DYE for giving me the opportunity to represent them and a huge thanks to all the guys at Nexus and Pete for being really welcoming.

If you’ve enjoyed the video, please feel free to check out my Facebook Page and stay tuned for all my adventures with DYE around the UK this season!”

27th April – Kicked off Round 2 of the Paintball Association of Victoria’s (PAVS) tournament paintball series held this round at Bass Coast Paintball a 1hour 50 minutes’ drive from Melbourne on a cool and breezy day.

By the 3rd game of the day strong winds were blowing across the field from the snake side which made teams including Dye sponsored team Hard2Overcome (H2O) change lanes off the break and game plans to combat the curving paintballs.

At the lunch break Hard2Overcome were sitting on 4 wins 1 loss and were looking forward to resuming after the break.

The afternoon session had Hard2Overcome pick up where they left off and the team finished the day with 8 Wins & 2 Losses.

Hard2Overcome as they did in Round 1 came away on the day with 1st Place and is already looking forward to Round 3 which will be held on June 15th at their home field Adrenalin Paintball Club in Newborough, Victoria Australia.

Both Captain of Hard2Overcome Craig McIver and Vice-Captain Mark Renden agreed that the team has room for improvement going forward. We know we made some small errors and we will work on them before the next round. We love playing on our home field and can’t wait for round 3 to arrive. We need to thank Dye Asia and Devon Stutz for supporting the team.

Check them out on Facebook here – www.facebook.com/Hard2Overcome

By Pete “Mr. U” Utschig

“3 days, 2000 players and 7,000 miles later I’m home from another epic adventure. Last weekend I set out to meet with the DYE Europe crew and Team Tactical Nexus. I was invited to be one of the South’s Team Generals in Englands largest scenario game, “North vs South”.

The game centers around Sundays major event which pits players from Northern England against players from the South. The three day event is advertised as a paintball festival, and that’s exactly what it is. Players from all over Europe come to camp, shop, party, and of course play paintball. To start things off, we played a little CQB. Check out this video of me changing my DAM to Recon Mode:

Friday players and vendors set up and were treated to 20 vrs 20 mini games. DYE Europe, myself and a couple of the Nexus players set up a DAM demo allowing all the mini game players to take the DAM out for a run. The feedback was the same as always… “This gun is insane” or “Best gun I have ever shot”.

Saturday the game format broke the competitors in two teams. One team was made up of only English players, the other was the rest if the world. I got to play alongside long time friend and Northern team guest general, Greg Hastings. Lucky for Greg, he was on my team Saturday because on Sunday he felt the sting of my DAM. Unfortunately for Greg, it was all caught on my Replay camera that he gave me.

Sunday was the big battle, along side Team Tactical Nexus we brought the pain train, completing all but one of our missions. As the day fell to a close, we ultimately were short on points and the Northern Team led by Jed Green and Greg Hastings were victorious. It was another welt filled weekend but the games were intense, the people were amazing and the camera footage is epic. I wouldn’t have had it any other way!!! Bloody Knuckles, Ironmen Style.

See you guys at Living Legends with the rest of the Ironmen!!!”

-Mr. U

Sunday, April 21 2013

If you want to turn heads in the college paintball scene, take a lesson from the 2013 Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles. Making their Class A debut, the boys from the Bay made it look easy, taking out the always stacked Cal State University Long Beach 49ers (the 2012 Champs) in the finals.

FGCU, rocking the full line of Dye Products, DM13 Markers, Dye Ultralite playing gear, and shooting a fresh batch of Dye CG Paintballs took down last year’s champs 12-4. If you couldn’t see it live, or if you missed FGCU rolling teams all event long via the webcast on PaintballAccess.com, check out the TV broadcast coming in crystal clear HD via the CBS Network to over 6 million homes May 18th, 2013.

It’s safe to say the Dye CG Paint was on point this event, bringing both FGCU and Cal State to the finals, as well as the University of Wisconsin – Platteville Pioneers straight to the top of the CLass AA 5-man division!

Congrats to all of the teams that won using Dye CG Paintballs at the 2013 NCPA College Paintball National Championships.

Dynamix are on a winning streak, taking 1st place once again at the recent SARPL Event 3. Craig Marley gave us a write up of the event and shared his thoughts on the performance of the new 2013 Dye product line and Dye CG paint:

SARPL Event 3 – Sunday, 7 April 2013

We had just recieved our new Dye gear and DM13′s before the event, straight out the box, they shot like a dream!

The event started on a very cold Sunday morning putting the Dye CG paint to the test but despite the cold the paint performed really well.

It was amazing because we have only recently gone into winter and at the previous event it had been extremely hot but the Dye CG

paint performed in both extreme temperatures!! This paint truly is incredible!

Dynamix dominated through out the event not losing a single match or point in the prelims. Our new player Daniel Hertog got a

chance to prove himself on the dorito side, he communicated well and got a lot of kills, this kid is a good asset to the team.

Dynamix dominated the event, only dropping one point all day to take first place. We also got the fastest game of 31 seconds due to

the all new Dye ultra light gear. The DM13 out the box ran great and CG paint continues to impress us.

Thank you’s to:

Dye for great gear and paint.

Blades and Triggers for all your support for the last 7 years and are proud to be affiliated as a Dye BNT Team.

Havaianas our new addition to our sponsorship for our stylish feet.

Switch Multimedia for the great photography.

And a big thanks to the SARPL for hosting a great event and to all the teams that travelled far and wide to make this a success!
