Marcello Margott Clinic at Total Combat Paintball – Photos and More!

Monday, February 18th, 2013

February 9th, 2013 marked the first official Marcello Margott Clinic at one of Southern California’s finest paintball parks, Total Combat Paintball (TCP) in Chula Vista, California.  Here’s what Marcello of the Los Angeles Ironmen had to say after the event:

“Well, its safe to say my first clinic of the year was a success. Had the chance to meet some amazing field owners that in my opinion, are exactly what this sport needs if we want to grow. Diana J Ocampo and her business partner Julio at Total Combat Paintball are true ambassadors of our sport. Their mission is to generate as much new interest in paintball as possible and I fully support them and their field. It was a pleasure working with people who truly care about the growth of paintball as a community as much as I do. I can’t wait to play there again.

The morning started with greetings and small talk while we all geared up. All the kids seemed very excited, and very happy to be there playing paintball, I always love that. It’s amazing to see all of this talent around the globe, visualizing what could one day emerge from the raw talent of some of my students.

One of the kids was 12 years old, his name was Andrew and I can’t say enough about him. He reminded me of myself when I was 12, totally submerged into the sport of paintball and its fascinating journeys during those moments on the battle field. He was fearless and always wanted to be the first to go in any of my drill exercises. Another kid was recovering from a knee surgery to have a unexpected tumor removed. His enthusiasm and dedication kept a smile on my face all day as he put in the maximum amount of effort in each and every lesson. I don’t want to leave anyone out, because all of the kids were more than awesome, but these two really stood out.

After going through a series of drills, exercises, and situational lessons I had a chance to play some points with everyone for fun to finish out the day. We all just mixed in and played games street ball style. I had a blast, it was definitely one of my more memorable clinics just due to the fact that I was surrounded by such good people. I look forward to working with TCP and playing at their field in the future.” – Marcello Margott #33

DYE PAINTBALL AND TEAM IRONMEN SIGN MARCELLO MARGOTT

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

San Diego, California (December 13th 2012)

DYE is proud to announce that Marcello Margott, PSP World Champion, former Ironmen player and PBA’s 2012 #2 ranked player in the world, has returned to his roots by signing a multi-year contract with Dye and their flagship team, the Los Angeles Ironmen.

Living just minutes away from Dye’s corporate Headquarters in San Diego, Marcello has been a part of the DYE family since he was 11 years old and just starting his paintball career. At the age of 17, Marcello made his pro debut with the Ironmen, winning two back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008. It’s fitting he makes his return to the team while he is at the top of his game. Marcello is a born winner and a stand out professional who is prepared to put in the work it’s going to take to bring the Ironmen back to the top of the PSP.

“We are excited about Marcello’s return to the Ironmen and the Dye family. I’ve known Marcello since he was a kid and a rookie on the pro scene. Over the years I’ve seen him grow into one of the top players in the game and mature as a person to be a leader on and off the field. He is a natural fit for Dye and the Ironmen.” –Mikko Huttunen, Vice President Dye Precision, retired Ironmen All-Star

“Home is where the heart is… I’ve traveled around with a few different teams for the past four seasons and it feels great to land back with Dye. There’s no reason for the Ironmen not to be a championship level team this year.” – Marcello Margott

Pete “Mr. U” Utschig Reports from Navikill in Ecuador

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Pete “Mr. U” Utschig of the Tactical Ironmen reports from his latest tactical adventure in Ecuador -

“The last event of this year for the Tactical Ironmen had the guys split between Wayne’s World Game in Florida where the Ironmen were led by Mike Paxson and Billy Wing, and the event I went too in Guayaquil Ecuador. Although I heard amazing things about the Wayne’s World  Game I am really happy I made the trip to Ecuador.

The Tactical Event I played was called Navikill which in Spanish means the Christmas Kill, very fitting. The event was organized by Ecuador’s  top ranked tactical team Waiakill, and  the team puts on an amazing event . The game pitted three teams of 35 players each in a virtual tug of war. The field was 500 yards long with two rows of two-story cement houses full of alleys, windows and corridors.

It was a tactical paintball player’s dream come true, especially one armed with a DYE DAM. There were kills to be had around every corner. Two teams competed at a time while the third team judged. The team’s mission was to acquire a key from the other team’s safe zone and then unlock a chained up hostage located in a maze in the center of the field. Both teams had the same assignments, which meant the gunfights in the center of the field were intense.

Paint was raining from every window above and below, nowhere was safe. Games were 30 minutes long and re-generation was allowed in the first 15 , which meant the first 15 minutes were full blown slugfest and the last 15 a tactical a chess match. There was no leaving the field to reload or air up. This left me at a huge advantage with a couple of loaded first strike clips in my harness. I was eliminating players at will with my DAM while they were struggling, down to my last rounds.

During lunch, with the help of Luis from DYE Ecuador and Team Evolution, and Gazzu also from DYE Ecuador and Team Zurikatas, we organized a 2 vs. 2 Tactical DAM tournament and Sniper competition. All the players involved were blown away by the DAMs accuracy, versatility, and fire power. I hope that we are able to adopt this set up at some tactical events next year. It was some of the most fun paintball I have ever played. Make sure you check back for all the POV video footage coming soon!”
