Another Successful World Combat Paintball (WCP) Magfed Event
by: WCP Clan -> “Hambo”
The day is October 5th, 2013. 0900 hours and the heat is already among us in the hills of North Carolina. Command Decisions Wargames Center, players from all around the south eastern state have gathered to do one thing and one thing only, play MagFed paintball. The training event was scheduled and put on by Chad “Hoot” Moore as an event known as MagFed Uprising to bring awareness to the up and coming gameplay of MagFed paintball.
Companies such as DYE Tactical, Milsig and Stark Pursuit all had strong showings at the event. Each company had something a little different to showcase but all with the same end goal in mind, to support magfed gameplay and make it a more prolific event so that we can bring more players into the sport of paintball. Milsig Paintball had Doug Brown on hand to tech and lend out various models of Milsig markers. Stark Pursuit had their Zeta Mags on hand to demo to pistol players that might not have heard of this slick new magazine. DYE Tactical was represented by their sponsored team WCP to offer FREE Dye Assault Matrix’s as marker loaners, to help spread the word to those that maybe haven’t heard about the DAM. At one point Spanky from WCP even had to loan out his personal DAM due to the demand for DAMs!
At 1000 hours the first type of training game was a 5v5 single mag elimination game. This type of gameplay taught you to be effective with a maximum of 20 rounds and that made it fair across the board with every player.
Next event, onto two magazines and 10v10 central prop games. These games were so fun that it seemed to make me feel as if I were new to the sport again just simply by changing the dynamics of the games due to not having 180 plus rounds at the disposal of one trigger pull. Teams such as Callsign Boxer, Da Immortals, WCP, and a multitude of walk ons all agreed the 10v10 prop games seemed to blur the lines of magfed and other styles of paintball due to its fast pace and adrenaline filled assaults. Team WCP was utilizing their DAMs with Dye CG paint and we were pretty much unstoppable through every round of competition!
After Lunch there was a 2v2 bracket of pistols only hosted by Stark Pursuit. The winners of the 2v2 event each would be awarded with one of the all new Zeta Mags. Stark Pursuit encouraged everyone to come down and play pistols only by supplying players with not only with Zeta Mags to use but also packs and pistols, complete with paint! I personally had never played with the Zeta Mags before but found them very easy to manipulate and convenient to have 20 rounds packed into one pistol mag. Stark Pursuit set the bar for action by giving each player one mag and providing one extra mag in the center of the field for either team to obtain. There were about 20 teams of two from all the players attending. WCP entered three teams with two of those teams making it to the semifinals. At the end, Kraken and Jaws of WCP were the winners of competition and two brand new Zeta mags!
The last part of the event was an hour and half scenario which would be a single hit elimination round where the opfor (Callsign Boxer, Da Immortals, and other players) would have an injured hostage waiting in an undisclosed location on the field. The rescue team (WCP, Tango Alpha Two, and other players) would insert in an undisclosed location and attempt to locate and extract the injured hostage. Sounds easy right? Wrong. While the majority of players were taking shots at each other on the 2v2 pistol competition, Callsign Boxer was hydrating and range testing their SAR12s, DAMs and Milsig markers with first strike rounds. The battle was fierce with the rescue team making a strong push near the end, but Callsign Boxer and the opfor team would go on to prove too much of an adversary to complete the objective within the allotted 90 minute game period, kudos to them.
So when is the next MagFed event? The next organized major MagFed event will be on November 8th, the Friday of Fulda Gap Scenario which is also held at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville NC. Don’t have a magfed marker? Don’t worry WCP & Dye Tactical will be onsite with FREE DAM loaners again to let you test drive the markers and see what all the DAM hype is! Make sure you mark the event on your calendar and come out and join us!
