Who are Offenburg Coimin At Ya?

Hi, We’re a German SPL Team and also compete in the German DPL where we placed second last season we currently have nine players on the team from all over Europe, Germany and the U.S.

Our team captain is Moritz Berndtson (Germany) Moritz and his brother Dario Berndtson (Germany) both have been on Comin At Ya for a while.

The rest of the roster consists of Manuel Hess (Germany), Sebastian “Schuby” Schubert (Germany), Marvin Bunsch (Germany), Dominik “Steigi” Steigmeier (Switzerland), Pascal Haefeli (Switzerland) Manuel “Orlando” Büttgenbach (Belgium) and Daniel Park (USA).

Starting the 2013 season Comin at Ya picked up four hungry new players, some of them well known to the local and European paintball community.  The more experienced additions were Pascal Haefeli who had formerly played for another DPL Pro team and Manuel Büttgenbach who had played for a Belgium SPL team in the Millennium Series.

We also picked up LA Ironmen Daniel Park known for being a powerhouse on the snake side and he is a force to be reckoned with.

Marvin Bunsch has been team captain of the German U19 national team and was the last pickup for Comin At Ya this year. He is currently the youngest player to compete in the DPL Pro division.

What happened at the last Millennium?

Coming into the Campaign Cup in London we had only one thing on our mind and that was winning the event. There is no magical formula to moving up to the CPL. It´s all about being consistently good in every event, every game and every point of the game It´s as simple as that!

After taking a second in Puget Sur Argens and a ninth place in Bitburg it wasn’t looking too good for us. Knowing this we practiced as hard as we could and played many points against other teams, mostly from the CPL. Most of us arrived in Basildon on Thursday and we had a practice scheduled at 5pm.

There was some confusion because of general delay and teams that just didn´t want to leave the field. The practice was rough but that usually means that our prelims will be good. It tells you where you get shot and how to tweak the game plans accordingly and you really get to know the field that much better.

Our first game on Friday was against the Dogs D Amour this was a team that we lost to in Bitburg but this time around we were confident in our abilities. It was a pretty close game that we ended up winning 4-3.

The next game was against Amsterdam Heat and we won 4-2. And this win succored us a spot in the Sunday Club.

On Saturday our last game of the preliminaries was against Brussels Graffiti with the momentum that we had we where able to beat them 4-1.

This win reassured everyone on the team that we were ready to go to the finals.

After a little rest on Saturday afternoon in the surprisingly nice weather we went to bed early to be ready for the upcoming task.  The games on Sunday went like this, We beat Paris Triade 4-3, Then beat Boost Air Rennes 4-1 we’re on a roll and feeling great. Then we came up against London Tigers… We had a battle on our hands with Tigers getting a quick lead and we ended up losing 2-4.

This lose against Tigers meant we would be competing for third and fourth place only! Being so close to making it to the finals and gathering the much-needed points and then missing it was detrimental to our morale. Everyone was tired of the hard games before and previous injuries starting aching a little bit more. But all of us have played paintball long enough to know that there is no place for that during an ongoing tournament. So we got up, re-grouped and focused on our last game, which was against fellow Dye Team Drammen Solid.

We had been helping out each other the whole weekend and watched each other’s games too. Even though they are friends of ours we still wanted to win and we all have on both teams a huge amount of competitiveness in all of us and we all want to win.

A good example of this is my teammate Sebastian ”SCHUBY” Schubert. He left everything he had on the field. If you watch our game against Solid closely you can see him throw up a couple of times. He still kept going and nothing could make him slow down not even a little bit. We won 4:0 against Solid, which put us at third place overall so all isn’t lost as we are still in the running for that CPL promotion but we will have to play better and be more consistent.

And we will just have to see how it goes in Paris. We are definitely ready to prove that we are worthy of playing in the CPL.

Give the new players of the sport some tips on how to improve their game.

There is no secret to playing Paintball in our opinion. Basically we are trying to practice against the best teams as often as possible. Not forgetting to run drills because without the basic skills there is no future for you in competitive paintball.

As a Team we try to practice against teams of equal or a higher skill set then us. This often means travelling far and maybe even flying to different countries but for us this is all part of becoming a better team and it is actually pretty fun too.

Travelling with your buddies and seeing different parts of the world makes for amazing memories. So if you are willing to take anything away from this Blog then listen up… Surround yourself with people you can benefit from and vice versa. Stick with people you really like and connect with

Yes, there might be a team that is currently better than yours or seems to offer great sponsorship but guess what, it´s not worth it if you are playing with a bunch of selfish guys that you don’t even like!

These kinds of teams won’t last long… What I mean is interpersonal relationships. In paintball with all its ups and downs you need teammates that have your back and in a moment of weakness you need to be the person that they can count on.

Try to listen to older or more experienced guys on the field and especially off it. This will help you prepare for whatever paintball and life offers you.

HULK Fight for Ukraine at 2013 Millennium Series – Campaign Cup

Report from our Ukranian Team – HULK – Who represented both their team and their country playing as Ukraine at the Nations cup at the Millennium Series Campaign Cup

by: HULK

“This weekend in Basildon near London took place the third stage of the European Championship Millennium.

In the championship we have traditionally taken the Nations Cup, which was presented by the country of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s team as the previous few years based on the players of team “Hulk.” Firstly, because it is the only Ukrainian team that performs at the Millennium, in the second – the players of this team together train and play in tournaments that promotes good interaction on the field and in the third – as the experience of the last four years, Ukraine has no other paintball team that would be better than the “Hulk” has performed at international tournaments (three sets of awards from World Cups past three years – a great proof).

As for the performance of the team, there are no unexpected surprises or did not happen, and the resultant performance predicted by us a year ago, in a similar report on the tournament.

The format of this season was formed four groups, which led teams of big paintball Quartet (Russia, France, Britain and Germany). All other countries, based on the rankings, took their places in groups and screening question was only about who will be the second. To the credit of our team, we did not give any chance to any Italians or Swiss in this fight, big beat and the first (4-0) and the second (4:1). With the French suddenly struck up the intrigue, after our team, successfully shooting breakout was able to win 2 out of 3 starting points. But the French, with the support of a large crowd and great performers of Pro Division, did not want to concede. The logical final score 4-2 in favor of the French.

Quarter-finals continued to set all fall into place, and the country – not “residents” lost battalion defense with an equally big score 4-1. Only Ukrainian team unfortunate mistake in the game 2 in 1 is not allowed to take at least one point. Since losing 4-0 to England we were eighth in Europe. It is noteworthy that in any game of the British did not remain in full force with extensibility, and in the last game and all three of us were! Indicating a good level of shooting of our players, but at the same time insufficient to make good decisions in the second movements.

As we have noted, Ukraine will not get into the top four as long as our team will not be playing in the top European division! There are promising players have the opportunity to train in a comfortable Reball center, but the level of competition is too low, that would fight on equal terms with the strongest European Quartet!

A similar problem was faced our team and in the club championship SPL. Very hard to play against teams from the top championships. When the season in full swing and these teams, experiencing fierce competition in their countries, while “on the move” may cause damage at any stage of the tournament.

Take, for example, a Frenchman who demonstrates probably the best dynamics of paintball in Europe. In fact, every third team in the top three divisions closed Millennium – the representative of France! With the current format of four teams in the group, each quadruple, on average, more than one representative of France! As a result – the game commands such as “Tontons”, which for sure will fall in the top ten of the world rankings this season!

Surely it is clear to all that the “Hulk” is lost on the French team in play offs :)

If in order, then, as in the previous steps we have not had a single game track.

Although all the qualifying games ended in victory, these outstanding fights and wins with the same final result of 3-2. It should be noted very high and well-balanced selection of participants SPL this season, as evidenced by the constant rotation of leaders and ranking in the top ten. On the way out of the group we beat “Dagnir Dae”, “Ugly Ducklings “and “ML Kings” Faced with the “Boost Air Rennes” in 1 / 8. Perhaps because of the injury of our snake forward, we could not find your optimal game for the first time this season, the biggest loser 4:1.

Despite the absence of even a theoretical chance of a prize in the division this season, an experience that gets the team is invaluable in the process of building a competitive team. Already all three players of Hulk youth team take part in team games, both on the domestic tournaments, as well as abroad, laying the foundation for future victories!

Thanks to everyone who supports us – the captain Iaroslav, coach Alexander Pristupov the best pit area in the world Oksana; companies «DYE» and «Autoradio”. And a separate kowtow to Vasiliy Panteleev, team “Cosmos” and the other Slavic brothers for their help on the fileds and in the pit area :)

See you soon on the fields!”
