Hulk Wins Millennium #1!

Thursday, April 10th, 2014

The main task of the team for the season in 2014 – winning the SPL series. The first stage was to be illustrative and answer the question. Is the team in a state to achieve their goals? The answer is yes! Hulk passed its first test in France. In the group stage it was clear already that the team has great potential and can gain during the tournament.

After winning the first two games with the same score 4:1 against Copenhagen Ducks and Ronholt Blast, our team solved the problem with early access to the next stage of the tournament. The third preliminary was interesting in terms of testing a strong contender. FiveStar Lleida team is set as a serious problem for this season, as evidenced by the existence of such authority in the roster as Nicky Cuba, Damian Ryan, and Kevin Rudulph. The match was very interesting and rich, the teams exchanged alternately between points. A key moment in the match occurred when the score was 3-2 in our favor, 40 seconds before the end of the game, we were four to one. Player, out of despair ran out on our snake, in our opinion was eliminated by our player, who also shoots him. As a result, strange decision by the judges, they gave the point to  the opponent and moved the game into overtime. Overtime was a contender for the 3:4 final score.

Next we played by the well-known opponent of last season , Drammen Solid. Not an easy match, but quite convincing victory 4-2. In the quarterfinals, a convincing victory over Amsterdam Heat, who in 2012 played in the CPL, 4-0.

In the semifinals, we met with substantial effort ML Kings. Three American Pro players and Slava Shturmas are able to compete with any team, including the CPL, so we did not have any illusions regarding the prospects for an easy victory in this match. We knew that the winner would be the one who made fewer mistakes. As expected, the match was incredibly tense. First, when the score was 3:3, ML Kings did not realize their numerical advantage and the game ended by the time. In overtime, Alex Goldman, in three to three game, unsuccessfully ran for the bunkering and, unfortunately, brought a penalty. What happened next, other than a miracle will not name. Last remaining in the field, Marcelo Margo was able to pull a seemingly lost match by hit three players of the opposing team. Total incredibly nervous 4-3 victory!

In the final, besides Hulk, made it very strong Swedish team, Falkoping Mashive.

It is worth noting a good game Marcelo, who at 3-2, won a 1 on 2 to win the match. 4-2 victory in the final of the Hulk !

Team made the first step towards achieving our goal! Ahead of hard training and a lot of intense matches!

Grateful for the achievements of our team, our sponsors and companies DYE, which produces the best paintball equipment on the planet and Autoradio for the media support. And of course the team would not exist without the support of Captain Iaroslav and hard work of our coach Alexander Pristupov.

Also many thanks to the pit area, Oksana , Galya . Special thanks to Tanya Nikolaeva and Sasha for their tremendous contribution to our victory. Oksana, happy birthday this victory dedicated to you!

WAIAKILL – DYE TACTICAL TAKES OVER UWL ECUADOR

Wednesday, March 12th, 2014

It’s endless summer here in Ecuador and our paintball season never ends. WAIAKILL – DyeTactical began 2014 training hard and focused on local and international UWL (Ultimate Woodsball League) tournaments, among other events we will attend this year.
We started getting our new 2014 gear in as soon as possible to adjust rapidly to the change. Less weight, smaller size, improved accuracy and air efficiency on our new DM14′s, allowed us to maximize performance and carry more paint in our vests (as UWL has no limit on the amount of paintballs you can bring into the field). Additionally, the macro line was removed from the new DM design, which meant less tangling up with branches and bushes, just as the DAM, which we were already used to since its release last year.
The tournament took place in “Cerro del Muerto” in the town of Playas, Ecuador on the 15 and 16 of February. Besides the tough opponents and intense games, the biggest challenges of this amazing field were the extreme weather conditions. Temperature ranging between 90 to 95F (32-34C), lots of mud, intense sun and humidity to the roof, made it difficult enough just to be there with no gear on. Thanks to the support of our DYE distributor, Luis Neira, we got ahold of enough Dye  Pop-up Tents to manage the weather and stay fresh and focused for the games. DYE tech support on site was another of the keys to success.

WAIAKILL – DyeTactical went in the tournament with 3 teams (15 players   on each team, 10 on court and 5 replacements).
Each team had 4 games played randomly among all competitors. The two most successful teams went to finals.
WAIAKILL ALPHA won all its games and got a solid 4 – 0 to go into finals. Meanwhile WAIAKILL BRAVO met ALPHA on its third game and got its first loss. In the final match WAIAKILL ALPHA met again with Team Dragones, who barely made it into second place in an extremely close match (4 point difference) with  BRAVO, who was favorite to play finals but got in third place.
The final game was not an easy one, mostly because of the exhaustion and tension. Scouts from the two opossing teams went for different  flags on the initial run, making it a tie in the first minutes of the match. WAIAKILL ALPHA’S aggressiveness got ahold of the lost flag before the first 10-minute brake and retained it through the entire game. The hooch was found during the second break, adding up more points to the overal score. With both flags and the hooch in our hands, our game was mathematically unreachable. We knew we could go all in for their home flag after the second break and pushed hard to try to end the game early. Dragones defended well and prevented us to advance to their home base flag. After 30 minutes of intense physical effort the game was over and we had won UWL Ecuador first chapter. WAIAKILL BRAVO came in third place, getting WAIAKILL – DyeTactical two places in the podium.
We are now training hard for the second chapter that will take place in Quito, Ecuador, May 3-4. We will try to keep on adding points on UWL’s local and international ranking.
We’ll keep you posted on the advances of UWL and other events.
For pics and vids of this and other tournaments and events follow us @waiakill in Instagram, Tweeter, Facebook and YouTube.
Come meet and share with us at the DYE Store in Living Legends 7, May 16-18.
Keep on balling!!

Hard2Overcome Wins the Able Cup Charity Event in Melbourne, Australia.

Wednesday, November 13th, 2013

I’m Nathan McDonnell and I play for Sydney Explicit in the Australian Super 7s Series.

Last month I was invited to go to Melbourne and play for Hard2Overcome (another Dye sponsored team) in the Able Cup – a race to four event hosted by the
Adrenalin Paintball Club.  The Able Cup was different from any event I have played in before, as its aim was to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation.  It was very rewarding.

After walking the field Saturday morning and getting our game plan sorted, we were ready to play some paintball.  At the end of Saturday’s games we had played 8 rounds and were sitting in second position.  An okay place to be, but we still had a lot of work to do as there were still 3 rounds to play on Sunday followed by the finals.

Sunday morning saw us face off against the top of the ladder team South East Cartel.  After some back and forth points the game ran out of time and ended in a draw.  We won the next round, but we did lose out on the last round of the day.  At least it was to our sister team H2O Blue.  Despite the loss, it was really good for us as it showed us we had a few flaws in our game plan which we sat down an quickly changed.

At the end of prelims the top four teams were:
South East Cartel
Hard2Overcome
H2O BLUE
HUSTLE

The first final of the afternoon was for 3rd an 4th between H2O Blue and Hustle. It was a close match with both teams swapping the lead, but with time running out it ended in a draw so they were sent into a sudden death 1 on 1.  Both players had the crowd on edge with a few close calls and great moves and in the end H2O Blue came away with the win and 3rd place.

The Final for 1st and 2nd place was between South East Cartel and my team H2O.  I would like to point out that the two times our teams had previously faced off against each other over the weekend, both games ended in a draw.

The game started off strong with the two teams losing players off the break.  We did however get the upper hand and took the 1st point.

The 2nd point started off like the 1st with both teams battling for position and after a few gun battles we came away with a 2-0 lead.

The 3rd point didn’t go the way we wanted with South East Cartel tearing through the field and bringing the game to 2-1.

The next point though, was a real battle.  Both teams dug in and fought for every inch of ground.  After a few key moves we got the kills and came away with the point making it 3-1 to us. This gave us a massive confidence boost going into the next point.

The last point started off with  us shooting 3 of the Cartel guys off the break and then closing it out quickly to come away with a 4-1 WIN.

Needless to say, we were very pleased!

We would like to thank the guys from South East Cartel for a tough final.  You guys made us work for every point. We would also like to thank Paintball Addiction for organising and sponsoring the event.  And finally, we would like to thank DYE PRECISION and Devon Stutz for sponsoring our team an giving us an LA Ironmen jersey to raffle off. We ended up raising $1542.10 for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Playing with the H2O guys was great fun and they have an awesome and well bonded team.  I am really looking forward to the 2014 season as I have been asked to join the H2O roster and have accepted.  With H2O I will be playing the PAVS and Race events in Melbourne (but this doesn’t mean I’ve left behind the Sydney events – I will continue with those also).

Thanks again to Dye Precision for all the support over the years and future.
