HULK Continues to Dominate the Ukrainian Paintball Scene

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

Warm summer days and a great venue anticipating a great time full of paintball.  All event long the stands were full to watch the exciting games happening at the tournament.

Long before the tournament, paintball Ukraine had news spread through the termination of the legendary Ukrainian team “Kiev Bears”, which defended the honor of Ukraine in international tournaments at the beginning of the last decade. The most significant achievement of the team in the last five years has been the Champion’s title in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Cup victory in 2012. Team “Hulk” expresses its hope for the resumption of the team in the near future!

As for the tournament, the proposed scheme in this year’s game allows teams to top tier in the group stage, easy to adapt to the field, to experiment, to vary the composition, in order to be in top shape to approach the decisive games of their division.

This, in fact, our team worked on the first game day. Due to the presence of 10 performers, it was important to give everyone a chance to prove themselves on the field of play, try different extensibility, and to assess the possibilities. Despite the experiments, three confident wins over teams of lower divisions and first place in the group.

On Sunday, at the time of the semi-finals, we met with one of the strongest teams of Ukraine in recent years – Kiev Express. This team traditionally plays well, especially on their home field, and we needed to win this tournament and thoroughly consolidate its leadership position in the ranking. In this confrontation, we were stronger, with a landslide victory 5-1.

In the final game, our team took up with another member of Kiev, the team “ZZ Top.” Unfortunately, since participation in the PSP, held in Chicago in parallel, the team played without their leader, the best player in the world last season, Alexandr Berdnikov.

Despite this, the team “ZZ Top” which placed second in the ranking of Ukraine, had a decent resistance, despite the modest final score 0:5

Victories in the three stages of the Cup of Ukraine, the team of “The Hulk” with 300 points thoroughly entrenched in first place in the rankings of the Cup of Ukraine on 30 points ahead of its closest competitors, the command “ZZ Top”

Looking forward to a successful performance in Europe, we want to thank our excellent pit – Oksana’s; captain Iaroslav; coach Alexander Pristupov, and our wonderful sponsors, the best equipment provider – Dye and our media sponsor – “Autoradio”.

Special thanks to DYE and all the fans to see you soon on the fields!

European Masters 2013

Poison Ivy is having a phenomenal season in the Millennium Series, one of the most competitive series in the world..  Coming off a 2nd place podium appearance at the most recent event, Bitburg, the best female paintball team in the world reflects on being so close to gold… they could taste it.  In the mean time, beer will do.

Only a month after the Mediterranean Cup we were eager and ready for the next Millennium in Bitburg, Germany. After a 6th place we felt that we had proven to ourselves that we can reach our goal continuing the hard work and dedication within the team. So that’s exactly what we continued doing.

In addition to paintball most of the girls on the team are students, and May is the busiest month with final exams coming up. However, that doesn’t stop us. In preparing for the European Masters in Bitburg we got in several reball practices, and one NPL event (Norwegian Paintball League) and one outdoor paintball practice, so we felt well prepared.

We all agreed that the nations cup was going to be mostly for fun, and that our focus should stay with our team (Poison Ivy) and our common goal to reach the top.

Finally we arrived in Germany with high confidence that this is our tournament.

Our first meeting with Germany was the bad weather and the rain pouring down; it was raining so bad that we had difficulty seeing the road in front of us. But when we arrived in Bitburg, the sun came out as ordered. Thursday consisted of registration, scheduling, field-walk, dinner, and making game plans.

Friday: The first thing we had to do this morning was to get in the car and pick up our last player Benedicte at the airport. She had her final exam on Thursday, but that did not prevent her from attending the tournament anyway. The pickup went smooth and of to the field we went.

First game was at 2:10 pm against Scalp ME Saulx les Chartreux 3, and in good Poison Ivy tradition we lost 0-3..which was pretty annoying. Next up was at 3:30 pm against another all-female team, Paris Camp Lady Carnage, we won that game 4-0 and felt that we were back on track. The day as Poison Ivy finished with one win and one lose. The five norwegian girls on the team played three more games that day as the Norwegian national team. They finished up pretty late, so all we had time for was a “quick” dinner and then straight to bed.

Saturday: One more game in the preliminaries at 10 am against Nancy Armada. We won 4-1 which placed us as #1 in our group, and moved us on to the important Sunday club.

The Norwegian national team also played two more games this day, and ended up winning the whole thing, and became European Champions 2013! The girls were on fire

Sunday club: Once again we managed the first step in to the tournament, now the real fun was about to start. First up this rain full day was the last-16 game against Orphans Dolgoprudny. Won 4-2 and made it to the quarter finals. By winning this game we had to play the next game against our friends and fellow Norwegians; Rebels Borgerskogen, who we consider to be a really good team. We knew that this game was not going to be easy, and only one of us could make it to the semi-finals.. We surprised ourselves (and others..) by winning convincingly 3-1. And for the first time in the history of Poison Ivy we had actually made it past the evil quarter finals at the Millennium and moved on to the semi finals!!! In the semi’s we met Lucky 15s Staffordshire, which proved to be a difficult match where we went on to overtime.. It ended with another win for us, 3-2. This meant FINALS!

The final we lost against a really good team Durham DV8 0-4. It was no doubt who deserved that first place. They proved better than us. Congratulations to Durham DV8 for taking 1st place! You guys deserved it!

When looking back at the tournament and our performance we are SO proud of how far we have come this year. Nothing is better than getting results when you work as hard as we have done this year. Because of the 6th place in France and now the 2nd place in Bitburg we are currently ranked 2nd in the overall ranking of 2013 at the Millennium :)

Second place is good, but for us nothing is good enough before we reach all the way to the top. So London watch out! Poison Ivy is hungry for revenge ;-)

TonTon Win Back-to-Back Millennium Series Events

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

TonTon are back on top.

After a win at the 2013 European Masters Millennium Series event TonTon are currently the #1 ranked professional paintball team in Europe, as well as an elite member of the PSP Champions Division.  With five more PSP/Millennium tournaments left to go in the 2013 season,  how great of a year can the TonTon have?  For this team… the sky is the limit.

Here are some words from Loic Voulot of TonTon after their win at Millennium Series Event #2 – The European Masters in Bitburg, Germany:

“After winning the first Millenium event in Frejus, getting qualified for the Champions Division at PSP Dallas, kept our spot at MAO, we have won again last weekend at the second Millenium event in Germany!

Winning 2 events in a raw is never easy, especially this season. The Millenium Series level has been increased by three US teams, the two Russians teams are strong as usual, and none of the 16 CPL teams are easy to play.

During this german event, as at the first one in France, we had to beat all three of those PSP teams to win the tournament.

The first day of the event was kind of strange for us. Pascal Hausser (our team coach) and Fabrice Colombo (our team captain) were not there.  Their flight was delayed but we managed to play strong paintball against Outrage, then Heat, finishing the day with a 2-0.

Playing sunday is always a good reward, but it can be a disappointed day too if you don’t do the job or play well.

In the quarter finals we played against Infamous. We lost the first nine minute point which had Infamous leading 0-1, but then we scored one point, then an other, and won this game 4-1.

Our semi final game was against Impact, a close game where we managed to keep control on the canadian team to go to the final 4-3.

After three days of the tournament, we played against Heat for the second time.  Heat was leading 4-2 at 1 min 17 before the end of the game, forcing us to score 2 quick points to equalize then a third 17 second point to win this final. We did it, final score 5-4.  To score 3 points in a min to Heat prove that the team is able to play on different rhythms, slow or fast regarding what is needed.

The CG paint, shot by the DM13 was absolutely perfect, brittle and accurate, for sure a BIG part of this win.

What a great 2013 season start for the team! If we want to be considerate as a world class team, we need to confirm those good results in Chicago during the next PSP event. This is why we’ll practice hard for the next four weeks.

Thanks to all the people rooting for us.
